One of the most important and complicated aspects of a nonprofit is its Board of Directors. The responsibilities of the Board, its role in fundraising, the relationship between Board and Executive Director, establishing and maintaining effective committees, leadership succession – these are just a few of the issues Mosaica commonly addresses with Board members and staff. Mosaica has developed numerous tools and strategies for helping Boards to assess their own roles and performance, clarify Board-staff relationships, and decide together how to ensure strong and appropriate governance for their organizations. Mosaica has worked with many nonprofits on governance issues, among them Voices for Virginia’s Children, a statewide child advocacy organization in Richmond, and IMPACT Silver Spring, a multicultural leadership program in Silver Spring, Maryland.
